I have been made to believe that romance is defined as:

seeing someone in daylight

I haven’t had the courage to deal with all that in a long time

years

One day I won’t have to say so much

Or live one half-inch above or below the break

Sometimes I feel such passion I think I might just die about it

And I don’t usually dream but when I do I dream of climbing up and sliding upside

down and around that pole (again)

I dream of earthly things like laughing and being in love

Of a time I used my body shamelessly

My very own means of production

I dream of Los Angeles

I dream on a mattress on the floor

Sam Jamison is a multidisciplinary artist based in Minneapolis, Minnesota, from Des Moines, Iowa. She makes paintings, poetry, soft sculpture and more, all reflecting on her inner world as a neurodivergent woman in her 20’s in 2026 America. Sam graduated with her BFA from MCAD in 2021 and since has been in shows in and around the twin cities included but not limited to: “The Art of Healing and Recovery” at Paradise Center for the Arts in February 2026, and “Fondly Thinking” at Hennepin County Library in March 2026, and “Heavy Hitter” at the MCAD MFA Studios in summer 2025, both curated by Lynaea Russom.
